Events such as 9/11, the 1994 Northridge earthquake and Hurricane Katrina identified a need for water and wastewater utilities to create an intrastate mutual aid and assistance program. The program can help reduce the impact of such events and expedite recovery efforts.
A group of Nevada water and wastewater utilities, with the support from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), have joined together to create the Nevada Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (NvWARN), a web-driven, statewide mutual assistance program.
NvWARN provides immediate assistance for member utilities during an emergency. NvWARN allows water and wastewater utilities to request equipment and personnel to assist during natural or man-made events that impact water and wastewater systems.
