Circuit Rider (Two Positions Available)
Nevada Rural Water Association, a non-profit association, EOE, is seeking a Full-Time Water Circuit Rider for our NRWA Circuit Rider Program. Our Circuit Riders provide on-site technical assistance in operations, maintenance, management, security, finances, loan application, and health and environmental issues to small rural public water systems serving populations under 10,000.
The primary goal of our Circuit Riders is to assist small, rural, and economically challenged communities with on-site, hands-on, technical assistance where participants take ownership in learning how to resolve their current and future problems including but not limited to:
This position travels throughout the State of Nevada. This position works closely with the USDA and the State Bureau of Water Pollution Control.
Salary & Benefits: Starting salary is $53k-$60k depending on experience and qualifications—medical, dental, and vision paid for employee. Holidays, accrued sick leave (for use after 30 days), vacation (for use after 6-months), and 401k participation after one year.

- Identifying & evaluating affordable solutions to water & wastewater problems in rural areas
- Assisting systems to rapidly respond & recover after natural & man-made emergencies such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, wildfires, ice storms and the health pandemic, COVID-19
- Protecting the environment & public health by improving treatment processes
- Improving financial sustainability through better management practices, more efficient operations & better maintained system components
- Enhancing compliance with federal regulations
- Assistance directed toward RD/RUS borrowers and potential borrowers
- Assistance provided for all aspects of water utility management, finance, operation and maintenance, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency and loan/grant applications

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Multi-year work experience (preferably a minimum of 5 years) in operating and/or managing a rural or community water system.
- Minimum certification in the State of Nevada with Drinking Water.
- Applicant must have reliable transportation and a valid State driver’s license (with proper insurance coverage).
- Must be able to travel frequently and/or for extended periods.
- Strong background demonstrating a well-rounded technical knowledge of the operations, maintenance, and system needs and methods of meeting those needs for rural and small drinking water systems.
- Prior working experience demonstrating the ability to identify, locate, and explain drinking water system problems to field personnel and decision-makers.
- Must have strong skills in customer service, detail-oriented, prioritizing work, meeting multiple deadlines, interpersonal relations, problem-solving, project management, and written communication.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheets, databases, and desktop publishing applications.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to deal with issues from external and internal customers.

EPA Wastewater Training &Technical Assistance
The Nevada Rural Water Association is hiring a full-time employee for the EPA Wastewater Training and Technical Assistance Program. The TTA will focus on assisting rural and tribal utilities with training and technical assistance. This position may also help systems to complete loan/grant applications for their construction projects.
The salary range is $55,000 - $60,000, DOE, plus vacation, sick leave, health, dental, vision, long and short term disability insurance and a 401(k) benefits package. A pre-employment background check and drug test are required.
